A Fort Smith Police officer is being recognized for helping a local woman on Saturday, July 25 by mowing her yard.
Tracey Porter told KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, she had just started mowing her yard, but had to stop and take a break because she was out of breath and hot.
Officer Jeffrey Lum was driving by, saw Tracey and stopped to see if she was okay.
“I stopped to check on her to make sure she did not need any medical attention or water or EMS or anything like that, and she said that she was fine,” Jeffrey Lum said.
“As I started to leave she started trying to start the mower again, so I took it away from her and finished mowing the grass.”
Tracey Porter, who is disabled and spends most of her time in a wheelchair, praised Officer Lum for what he did.
“I thought it was awesome, and I just really appreciate what he did. It is good to have really friendly officers that really do help people,” said Tracey Porter.
Porter says her daughter and son-in-law help her out, but she was glad the officer drove by when she needed him.
