Tulsa Police arrested two people who led them on a chase in midtown Tuesday afternoon.
Police said officers were investigating drug activity near 61st and Peoria when the driver of a vehicle they were following, later identified as Christopher Matthews, committed a traffic infraction. When they tried to pull him over, he sped off, they said.
The car went eastbound on I-44, with TPD and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers in pursuit. Police said when Matthews locked up his brakes while trying to avoid hitting another car as it took the Skelly Drive exit. It hit the car then rolled up the embankment toward I-44, officers said.
Matthews and his passenger, a woman, jumped out and ran, according to police. They tased the driver and arrested him, but the woman ran to a nearby motel. Police arrested her there without incident.
Police said the three men in the car that was hit were not hurt.
Police said the suspects' car rolled back down the embankment and bumped into a TPD squad car.
According to jail records, Matthews is being held on a $31,400 bond for several complaints, including resisting arrest, hit and run and assault and battery on a police officer.
