A man hanging onto the side of a trash truck was injured in a two-vehicle collision late Monday night in Wagoner County. Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated the wreck that sent two people to the hospital.

It happened at 10:11 p.m. on State Highway 51 about 4 miles east of Wagoner.

Troopers say Robert Generaux of Jenks was driving the trash truck and was improperly backing into a  private drive off the highway. A woman driving westbound on the highway hit the side of the trash truck where Shawn Wyatt was riding outside.

Wyatt, 24, was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital where he is said to be stable with arm, leg, head and other injuries. The 40-year-old Generaux wasn't hurt, a collision report states.

Brieanna Stapp, 22, was driving the car that hit the trash truck. The Wagoner woman was treated and released for arm and leg injuries at the Wagoner hospital.

The trooper's report lists the cause of the injury crash as improper backing.
