A boil advisory has been lifted for drinking water supplied by the McAlester Public Works Authority. A boil order was issued because traces of E. coli had been found in the water system.

The city manager said they received the results of test samples late Friday night. They had nine negative tests for E. coli and say the water is now considered safe for customers of McAlester Public Works Authority.

All residents who use this water system had been advised to bring water to a full, rolling boil for at least a minute before all uses. The boil order affected an estimated 20,000 customers.

All systems are back to order as of about 1 a.m. Saturday morning, according to the city manager.
