A judge sentenced a Checotah man who oversaw a meth drug operation from inside a McAlester prison to 23 years in a federal prison.

Prosecutors say at the time of his 2014 federal indictment, 37-year-old Michael A. Metzker was already in prison for drugs and burglary convictions out of Muskogee County. He pleaded guilty to the charges in the indictment in January 2015.
