A Tulsa man shot and left paralyzed by a security guard died Tuesday night.

According to the family of Monroe Bird III, he was brain dead most of the day before passing away just before 10:00 Tuesday night.

Bird was shot in the parking lot of the Deerfield Estates Apartments on February 4, 2015, after being spotted in the back seat of a car with a young girl.

He was recently discharged from the hospital because his insurance company denied him coverage because the district attorney found no fault in the security guard's actions.

Bird needed rehabilitation, but instead he was sent home in March for his family to take care of him.
