Emergency personnel said Good Samaritans pulled a driver from a burning SUV just after 11 p.m. Friday when it crashed off Interstate 44 west of Highway 169.

Investigators haven't determined what caused the driver to leave the highway.

Tulsa Fire Captain Ricky Powell said the vehicle crashed about 400 feet from the road in a wooded area, making it difficult for fire crews to get to the scene.

"There were some citizens on scene that might have removed the driver from the vehicle and assisted with getting that patient to EMSA crews when they arrived on scene," he said.

The SUV was completely engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital. His condition is not yet known.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the injury crash.
