The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a Tulsa County Sheriff's patrol SUV just west of Sand Springs Monday afternoon.

The 12:30 p.m. crash happened on an exit ramp from Highway 412 to 129th West Avenue.

State Trooper, Whit Cochran said the deputy was responding to an emergency call and entered the exit ramp too fast, causing the SUV to hit the guard rail and roll over.

Cochran said the deputy was attempting to merge around another vehicle and said there is still sand left over from the winter on some of the off-ramps which played a factor into the vehicle departing the road.

They said the deputy was knocked unconscious in the crash but was alert as paramedics placed him in the ambulance.

EMSA took him to a Tulsa hospital.
