Jared Shoemaker Memorial Walk Begins In Tulsa

The weather cleared off just in time for the 6th annual Jared Shoemaker Memorial Walk.

A group of Tulsa-area law enforcement officers and have begun a three-day, 60-mile walk from Chandler Park in Tulsa to Stillwater.

The event takes place prior to the Special Olympics Oklahoma Summer Games which start Wednesday on the campus of Oklahoma State University.

The walk honors Marine corporal and Tulsa Police officer Jared Shoemaker who was killed in Iraq in September 2006.

Money raised from the walk goes to the Special Olympics of Oklahoma in Jared's name.
