A few strong to severe storms are possible Friday morning as warm, moist air moves across the eastern part of the state, WARN Team chief meteorologist Travis Meyer said.

They could present hail, wind and isolated thunderstorms.

A secondary and more likely higher risk area for severe weather will be in our northern viewing area of southeastern Kansas and extreme northern Oklahoma. Models show at this time there could be a tornado risk, Meyer said.

"There remains considerable uncertainty though regarding the location and areal coverage of any storms which form," WARN Team meteorologist Dick Faurot said.

"Clouds for most of the day will limit the instability somewhat although the dynamics look impressive. Also, conditions appear to favor a more widespread area of showers/storms forming in northeastern Texas or far southeastern Oklahoma, which would inhibit showers/storms further north.

"Bottom line is to keep a close eye on the sky and on the forecast for Friday as this will be a very dynamic situation and conditions could change rapidly."
