Wichita State took an early lead to beat the University of Tulsa softball team Tuesday evening.
Scoring Summary
The Shockers took an early 1-0 lead at the bottom of the second inning with an RBI double.
At the top of three, Kaitlin Allen singled for Tulsa's first base hit, but was left stranded on base.
The Shockers then went on to add another run to the board at the bottom of the inning with a double, and a single that took an unfortunate bounce off of first base.
The Golden Hurricane bats stayed cold at the top of four, going down in order.
WSU continued to increase its advantage, pushing it to 4-0 in the fourth.
TU finally tallied a run at the top of five off singles by Brittany Walker and Maddie Withee, and a groundout by Jodi Edmiston.
At the bottom of the inning, Wichita State stayed hot to create a comfortable cushion, taking a 7-1 lead.
Tulsa soon went on to score its second run at the top of six on two hits, cutting the six-point deficit by one.
The Golden Hurricane needed a big time rally at the top of seven to win, but failed to score, falling 7-2 at the final.

TU will travel to Greenville to face East Carolina in a three-game set, beginning Saturday at noon.
