Police: 5-Year-Old Shot By Gunman At Tulsa Hotel

A child was shot by a gunman at a Tulsa hotel Thursday night.

Police said a man went to the Americas Best Value Inn & Suites around 7:00 Thursday night. The said he went to a specific room, knocked, and when the child's mother opened the door, he fired one shot.

Police said the woman believed it was someone she knew, but did not recognize the shooter.

Police said the 5-year-old boy was shot in the leg, but is now alert and in the hospital with his mother.

One guest, Gisela Soliday, is staying at the hotel with her 9-year-old granddaughter and said she is concerned for their safety.

"I'm here with my granddaughter and my son so I wanted to know if it's safe to be here in the hotel. We're here for just the fifth day, or something, and want to be sure if we should move," she said.

Tulsa Police Captain, Mike Williams said, "We have to do a thorough interview and investigation on this, and sometimes the story changes, sometimes it becomes clearer once we've spoken with them."

Police also said the woman's husband - and child's dad - is in prison and that he has been sending death threats to his wife.

Police are continuing to investigate and are searching for the shooter.
