A woman was injured after troopers say she swerved to avoid a deer in Mayes County late Sunday. A 1-year-old girl in the car was not hurt.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the wreck took place at 9:17 p.m. on County Road East 470 just east of Spavinaw.
Cami McCullah of Rose was westbound in a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu when she swerved to avoid a deer in the road and hit a tree, according to an OHP collision report.
She was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital where she is said to be stable with internal injuries. A child in the car, who was not identified due to her age but is also from Rose, was uninjured.
Troopers say the child was properly secured in a child restraint. The traffic investigator says McCullah was in apparently normal condition before the wreck, and the cause of the crash is listed as "deer in roadway."
