Tulsa Police shut down Pine just west of the Tisdale Expressway after a car struck a teenage girl Friday morning.
Witnesses told police the 13-year-old ran across Pine and was struck by an eastbound Dodge Challenger at 7:36 a.m. Officers said the driver, Patrice Anderson, didn't see the girl until it was too late.
Officers said a camera on a nearby Tulsa School bus recorded the wreck, so they will review the video.
"There was something that made her dart across the street going from the south to the north across the street, unfortunately right now we don't know what made her go across the street," said Tulsa Police Sgt. Shane Tuell.
Police don't believe Anderson did anything wrong, but said they are going to make sure she wasn't impaired.
EMSA took the 8th grader to the hospital. Police said the girl was badly hurt but didn't have any broken bones or internal injuries.
The crash happened at the intersection of Pine and Olympia. Police said a Tulsa Public School bus parked at the scene was not involved, but the driver witnessed the incident.
Officers said the teen attends Tulsa's Central Junior High School.
