Most Tulsa area school districts canceled classes Tuesday and that has some asking why the districts decided to close.
The list on Tuesday includes Tulsa, Tulsa Union, Broken Arrow, Sand Springs, Bixby, Jenks and Glenpool.
School districts tell News On 6 many times they make the decision to cancel classes together because some parents work in different districts than where their children go to school.
Even though major streets across the Tulsa metro are clear, side streets in numerous neighborhoods around the area are still slick Tuesday morning, especially roads in west Tulsa. TPS cited those west Tulsa streets as their main reason for canceling classes Tuesday.
School officials also said they don't want to risk school buses sliding on those slick spots.
And they are concerned with students waiting outside in the freezing temperatures early Tuesday waiting for their school bus.
