A 5-month-old girl died in a one-vehicle crash north of Pawnee on Sunday.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision took place about 4:20 p.m. on Oklahoma15, just west of County Road 34600 about 5 miles north of Pawnee.

The OHP report says a 2005 Jeep Cherokee driven by Nicole Danielle Cash, 24, of Pawnee, departed the roadway to the left, went down an embankment, struck a creek bank, hit a pipe fence, rolled once and came to rest on the fence.

Cash was transported to a Tulsa hospital by medical helicopter and is said to be stable with trunk internal and external injuries.

The infant died of a head injury, the report says.

The investigating trooper wrote in the report that Cash was wearing a seatbelt and there was a child restraint available in the vehicle, but it is unknown if it was in use.

Weather conditions were cloudy, but the two-lane asphalt street was dry during the time of the late-afternoon crash, the report says.

The condition of Cash at the time of the crash and the cause of the collision still are under investigation, according to OHP.
