The Oral Roberts men's basketball team took on South Dakota Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Mabee Center. The Golden Eagles were unable to contain the Coyotes perimeter game, falling 83-70. The loss caused Oral Roberts to drop to 14-12 overall and 7-5 in the Summit.
The Golden Eagles were down 37-22 in the final five minutes of the first half. ORU's defense wasn't performing up to task, and the team's leading scorer Obi Emegano only had four points. Although the Golden Eagles trailed, the team managed to outscore the Coyotes 16 to 14 in the paint, and posted six fast break points.
In the final two minutes, ORU went on a small offensive run. The Golden Eagles then made some defensive adjustments, and managed to cut South Dakota's lead 41-33 by the half.
The Coyotes came out the gate putting more points on the board, advancing its lead 52-41 by the 14 minute mark.
ORU had trouble getting shots to fall, until Bobby Word sank a jumper, making it a 13-point game (64-51).
The Golden Eagles' efforts weren't enough, as they fell 83-70 at the buzzer.
