A Tulsa charity was honored by Congress Monday. The Happy Hands Education Center was awarded the Congressional Non-Profit in the Spotlight Award.
Oklahoma Congressmen Jim Bridenstine selected the organization for the award.
Happy Hands' Executive Director, Jan Pride, said she hopes the award brings more attention to the charity, which has been around for two decades.
"It's amazing. You know, sometimes we hear the phrase 'we've never heard of you before,' and to be recognized by Congressmen Bridenstine's office is truly an honor," Pride said.
Happy Hands provides educational services for deaf children. It is Oklahoma's only full-time care provider for children with communication disorders up to 6 years old.
