A fire destroys a Sapulpa home leaving a family without a home just two weeks before Christmas.

The family says they were asleep when the fire started Wednesday morning just after 7 a.m.  They say they escaped with their lives, but that's about it.

Firefighters were called to the scene in the 10500 block of West 72nd Street South.  When they arrived, flames were coming through the roof.

Firefighters said five adults and one child in the house were able to get out safely. They said the family lost two dogs in the fire.

The home looks to be a total loss.

The family is now working on finding a place to stay.  They tell News On 6 they think a space heater may have caused the fire, but Sapulpa Fire investigators are still looking for the cause.
