Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a crash that left a Wagoner man dead early Sunday. The fatal wreck took place at 4:15 a.m. on State Highway 16 in Muskogee County.

Troopers say Joseph Kane Adair of Wagoner was trying to pass an SUV when he struck the left rear end of the other vehicle. Adair lost control of his Toyota Avalon and went off the road, rolling four times, according to a collision report.

He was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Adair, 23, was not wearing a seat belt, the trooper states.

His condition at the time of the wreck and the cause of the crash are under investigation. The other driver, 41-year-old Muskogee resident Ronald Burk, refused treatment at the scene.

Muskogee Police, fire and EMS assisted OHP.
