Oklahoma Police Officers Serving Up Meals In Ferguson

Oklahoma police officers are serving in a different way than usual in the St. Louis area. Members of the Oklahoma State Fraternal Order of Police were activated Saturday in advance of the anticipated Ferguson grand jury decision.

A 12-member jury is expected to announce their decision on whether there is sufficient evidence to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson with the fatal shooting of Michael Brown this summer.

The shooting triggered months of protests, some violent. Though Brown's family, President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder are urging people to remain peaceful, the National Guard, federal, state and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed to the area.

Officers from Tulsa, Bethany, Anadarko and Glenpool are part of the State FOP's response. They drove up to Ferguson with a disaster relief trailer to feed around 800 of the fellow officers three meals a day, according to the Oklahoma FOP Facebook page.

Glenpool officer Randy Rains said they fed over 200 people on their first evening there and were back serving breakfast Sunday morning.

  Additional officers may be sent to the area from Oklahoma as well, Rains said.
