Owasso Police say a restaurant employee received minor injuries when a gun accidentally went off in a neighboring business.

The incident happened at the Billy Sims BBQ restaurant on east 86th Street North at about 2:45 Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Police believe a person was inspecting a 9 mm handgun at a neighboring business when the gun fired. The bullet passed through the wall into the restaurant where it hit a cash register.

Officers say a male employee received superficial injuries to his arm, possibly being struck by bullet fragments or debris.

Owasso medics treated him at the scene.

Detectives are still investigating.
