Jaguars' wide receiver Justin Blackmon pleaded no contest to marijuana charges on Thursday. The NFL player was in an Oklahoma courtroom Thursday to deal with the charge. He was arrested back in July, after police found three grams of marijuana in his vehicle. Blackmon was being stopped for a traffic violation when the discovery was made. He was then suspended from the National Football League, and voluntarily joined a treatment program to tackle his issue. Due to this incident Blackmon missed more than a year on the field, and faced an indefinite ban from playing for the NFL.
The receiver pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor. He also informed the judge that he had completed his rehabilitation program. “I don't anticipate that [Blackmon] will have any problems,” said Blackmon's lawyer Robert Gray. “He's going back to training, and hopefully looks forward to reinstatement.”
There is a chance that Blackmon could be reinstated for next season. The Jaguars still have their rights to their star receiver.
