We heard about a hit-and-run in downtown Tulsa Wednesday so we went to check it, but when we got there we found the accused driver sitting in handcuffs, cracking jokes.
When we first got there, Yogie was sitting on the curb in handcuffs with no shoes, after an unexpected wake-up call from Department of Homeland security agents.
Lori: "Did they come over here and knock on your cab or something?" Yogie: "Yeah, the guys came over here to wake me up." Lori: "What'd they say?" Yogie: "Wake up. That's what happened."
Turns out Yogie had pulled into the jail parking lot at around 2 o'clock Wednesday morning to make a delivery but decided to leave.
On his way out, Yogie rammed into a Homeland Security vehicle, doing quite a bit of damage.
He didn't stop, drove a block away and crawled in his cab to sleep.
Lori: "So, had you had something to drink last night?" Yogie: "Oh, no ma'am, Got some bad shrimp probably." Lori: "Bad shrimp." Yogie: "Bad shrimp, yeah, Oklahoma, you know."
He admitted later it was beer that did it.
He said it was just an accident and he planned on clearing it all up when he came back to make his delivery, but agents found him first.
Yogie tried to fix the damage to his truck with a hammer but decided he would need a much bigger one than what he had.
He was cut loose with just a ticket but, of course, he'll have to pay for the damage he did to the homeland security vehicle.
