University of Tulsa Women's Golf Coach Emilee Klein-Gille announced today the signing of Jenks High School's Mackenzie Medders to a national letter-of-intent.

Medders is ranked fifth in the state for Oklahoma Junior Golfers (OJGT). She placed first at the OJGT Indian Spring Junior Open, and had third place finishes at the OJGT Battle Creek Fall Round-Up and the OJGT Battle for Bixby. Medders also finished in seventh place at the Women's Oklahoma Golf Association (WOGA) Junior State Championship.

At the 2014 Class 6A state championship, as a junior, Medders helped lead her Jenks golf team to a fourth-place team performance, while finishing in 19th place overall in the field of 73 participants.

She placed 21st among some of the nation's top junior golfers at the IZOD AJGA Championship at the Bryan Park Players Course in Browns Summit, North Carolina this past July.

“We're very excited that Mackenzie Medders will be joining the Tulsa Women's Golf Program in the fall of 2015,” said Klein-Gille. “Mackenzie was a soccer standout who has now converted to being a full-time golfer and in the short time that she has been playing golf, she has already proven herself as a true competitor. Mackenzie is an extremely hard worker and I believe she will be a top collegiate player during her time at TU.”

The two other 2014 signees are: Olivia Jackson from North Yorkshire, England, and Johanna Samuelsson from Djursholm, Sweden.
