The University of Tulsa volleyball team (19-8, 11-5 The American) return home for its final homestand on the year, as they take on the Temple Owls (22-6, 13-3 The American) on Friday Nov. 21, at 7:00 p.m., followed by the team's final home match of the year against the UConn Huskies (10-17, 3-13 The American) on Sunday at noon, at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Sunday's match against the Huskies will serve as senior day, where the Hurricane will recognize its three seniors, Carly Boatwright, Bailey Clampitt, and Valerie El Houssine prior to the first serve.
The Hurricane has been on fire as of late, as the team has won 11 of its last 12 matches. Its lone loss in that stretch came on the road in four sets against Temple. The loss snapped a five-game win streak for Tulsa, however, the team has since gone on a season-long six-game win streak heading into Friday's match against the Owls.
Last weekend proved to be a huge weekend on the road for the Hurricane, who topped the league's top team, UCF, 3-2, in come-from-behind fashion, then swept South Florida two days later.
The two wins moved Tulsa into a three-way logjam for third place in the American Athletic Conference, with Memphis and SMU, and just two games back of the second place Owls. Third in the conference is the highest the Hurricane has been ranked this season.
Erica Bohannon is coming off of her first American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award, after the sophomore finished last weekend with 4.50 kills per set and recorded a career-high 26 kills, while hitting .351 against UCF.
Bohannon is currently 50th in the nation this season in kills per set (4.00) and 53rd in total kills (408). She has been kept busy all year, ranking 17th in the country with 11.87 attacks per set.
Temple has been one of the hottest teams in the conference, as they are in the midst of a 10-match winning streak.
Two weeks ago, the Owls were the first team to take down UCF in conference play this season, winning, 3-1, at home.
This past week, Temple edged out the conference's last place team, UConn, 3-2, before topping the East Carolina Pirates, 3-1.
On Sunday, Tulsa will take on a UConn team who has struggled mightily, winning just one of its last 14 matches, dating back to Sept. 26. The Huskies lone win in that stretch came against Cincinnati in five sets on the road on Halloween night.
UConn's season was off to a strong start, when it began the season 9-4, including a 3-0 sweep over Temple in its first conference match of the year.
The Huskies have not traveled well this season, winning three of its 10 road matches in 2014.
The Golden Hurricane is one win away from 20 on the year, and with one more win, would reach that mark for the 10th season in a row.
