An American Celtic punk band had to cancel its show in Tulsa Sunday night after its tour bus struck and killed a pedestrian in Texas.

The Boston-based Dropkick Murphys had played a show in San Antonio Saturday night and were en route to Tulsa early Sunday when the bus hit a man on the highway near Round Rock, Texas.

The band posted a message about the incident on its Facebook page.

"Sadly however, at around 3 a.m. just north of Austin, we were involved in a tragic and fatal accident when a pedestrian suddenly ran onto the highway in front of our tour bus. Police suspect a suicide."

The driver was shaken up and the bus was too damaged to continue on to Tulsa, according to the band.

The band said it was heading to Tulsa via Dallas, where it was going to drop off singer Al Barr at the airport so he could catch a flight to attend the funeral of a lifelong friend.

The band was set to play at Cain's Ballroom Sunday night. Cain's is refunding the tickets bought for that show and is hoping to reschedule the band as soon as possible, which it says will likely be in 2015.

"As much as it pains us to miss a show and we truly apologize for it, we'd like to stop and acknowledge that a man has lost his life. Please keep him and any family he might have in your prayers," the band said on its Facebook page.

In an effort to help the family, the band Donated $25,000 to Dalton Lane Clark's family.

The band is named for John E. "Dropkick" Murphy, a doctor and professional wrestler who also owned the Bellows Farm Sanatorium, a facility for treating alcoholics, in Acton, Massachusetts from 1941 to 1971.
