We're tracking a storm system that will bring rain and thunderstorms back to the state soon. Higher chances across eastern OK will occur later this evening, overnight, and into the first half of Tuesday as the system moves eastward. Some pockets of heavy rainfall will be possible along the surface boundary that will be positioned from the southwest to the northeast along I-44 late tonight into early Tuesday morning. The data supports a somewhat progressive system and flooding issues are not anticipated across the majority of the area. A few localized areas of street level or low lying areal flooding may be possible. Model data continues to support anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of precipitation across the state but most locations will receive between 1 to 2 inches of rain. Temps today will be moving into the mid to upper 60s with mostly cloudy conditions before the clouds begin to erode from the northwest to southeast Tuesday afternoon and evening. We anticipate improving conditions from the northeast to southeast Tuesday afternoon and evening with the precipitation ending Tuesday morning across the north and ending by early evening across southeastern OK. A weak and dry system will push into the area Thursday.
The upper air flow after tomorrow will remain from the northwest allowing for a series of fronts to move into the state. After the Thursday system passes, a stronger front will arrive Saturday with a nice cool down, but uneventful weather will occur for the rest of the 7 day period.
Temps this morning will remain mild and into the 50s with afternoon highs in the upper 60s to near 70. Most of the area will remain dry until around 6pm to 7pm when a few showers will be possible well ahead of the main cold front. The window for the Tulsa metro will remain open from 7pm tonight through about 9am Tuesday morning. The better window will be around 11pm tonight through 9am Tuesday.Temperatures tomorrow will more than likely remain in the 50s for the entire day with morning clouds and afternoon sunshine. The majority of the remaining 7 days in the forecast will be spent in the 40s for morning lows and in the 60s for daytime highs. The exception would be the weekend when afternoon highs should stay in the upper 50s.
Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
