Oklahoma's two biggest cities are in the top ten of the most affordable big cities in the U.S. according to a national web site.
In a list compiled by Kiplinger's the city of Tulsa was ranked 5th and Oklahoma City came in 9th.
The web site says the city of Tulsa's cost of living is 11.7 percent below the U.S. average. It says the unemployment rate is 4.5 percent and an average commute to work is just over 18 minutes.
Kiplinger says Oklahoma City's cost of living is 9.7 percent below the U.S. average and the unemployment rate is 4.4 percent. The average commute to work for an OKC resident is just over 20 minutes.
On the downside, the web site says the state of Oklahoma is part of the infamous Tornado Alley and the state is number six on their list of States Most at Risk of Disaster, based on estimated property damage since 2006.
The top three cities on Kiplinger's list are Memphis, Tennessee; Columbus, Ohio; and Omaha, Nebraska.
