Good morning.  We're tracking a small upper level disturbance that is bringing a few showers and storms to the region this morning.  No severe weather is expected, and very little lightning will be anticipated for most locations.  Most of this system will be out of northeastern OK around 10am to noon.   Clouds should also clear from the west to the east later today allowing for some sunshine and highs into the mid-70s from Tulsa to the west.  Lower 70s will be possible across extreme eastern OK where clouds may linger longer during the day.

This system has very little surface instability and upper level parameters that would thunderstorm activity.   A few showers this morning may produce pockets of moderate rainfall in a few spots.  Most locations that experience the rainfall will only see light amounts.  Locations south of I-40 may only experience a small shower or sprinkle, or could remain totally dry.  Locations near the Tulsa metro (I-44 eastward) would have the higher chance to experience the early morning activity.

The current timing supports the showers ending near the Tulsa area around 8am, ending across extreme eastern OK around noon, with the clouds remaining through midday.  Some cloud cover will thin out around 2pm to 3pm near Tulsa, with clouds finally clearing far eastern OK around 4pm to 5pm today.  This makes the partial solar eclipse viewing difficult in far eastern OK, but may be possible from Tulsa to the west.

Friday into the weekend will feature dry and unseasonably warm conditions.  Temperatures will move into the lower 80s Friday, and into the mid and upper 80s this weekend.  Wind speeds will remain light until Saturday evening into Sunday morning when south winds will increase speeds from 15 to 25 mph in advance of the next system.

The pattern will support a strong upper level system and surface boundary nearing the state early next week with most data converging upon a Monday night and Tuesday morning frontal passage.  This system could be a big precipitation maker early next week with temps cooling down Tuesday into the 60s.

Thanks for reading the Thursday Morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day.
