The Hominy Chief of Police has confirmed a restaurant was robbed and an employee assaulted late Thursday night at the intersection of Oklahoma 20 and Oklahoma 99.
HPD Chief Charlie Arnold said a Simple Simon's Pizza employee was closing the store about 9:30 p.m. when the incident occurred. The worker was emptying a mop bucket out of the back door of the restaurant, but two men were waiting on him when he walked outside, Arnold said.
The employee told police the men forced their way inside and attacked him with a weapon of some sort, although Arnold said the employee wasn't sure what type of weapon. Arnold said the restaurant employee had injuries, mainly a big knot on his head, but he is expected to be OK after being checked by paramedics.
The attackers were described as white men, approximately 6-foot tall, wearing black hoodies and bandanas over their faces. They ran away after leaving with an undisclosed amount of money.
Hominy officers conducted an extensive search for the men Thursday night but have not found them.
Investigators said they do not believe the robbery is related to the inmate who escaped from the Dick Connors Correctional Center in Hominy last week.
If you have any information about the crime, please call Hominy police.
