The Oklahoma Highway Patrol's Marine Division says a Tulsa man suffered a head injury in a sailboat incident on Skiatook Lake Tuesday evening.

According to the OHP report, the injury occurred at 6:30 p.m. on a 1980 Boston Whaler 17-foot sailboat operated by 68-year-old Thomas Prince. Troopers said Prince was attempting to turn the vessel about 600 feet from shore when a boom struck him in the head and the boat capsized. The OHP says nearby boaters uprighted the sailboat and called for help.

The OHP says Skiatook EMS arrived but Prince refused treatment.

The incident occurred near the Skiatook Point boat ramp.
