The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says the new eastbound I-244 bridge over the Arkansas River will officially open to traffic on Monday, September 15, 2014.

The $41 million bridge replacement project near downtown Tulsa began in June 2013 with overall completion scheduled for the spring of 2015.

The I-244 multi-modal bridge which now carries both east and westbound traffic was opened in July 2013.

ODOT says after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. featuring Governor Mary Fallin, Deputy US Secretary of Transportation Victor Mendez and Oklahoma Secretary of Transportation Gary Ridley eastbound traffic will be diverted to the new bridge.
