The Oklahoma Sooners pounded the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 52-7 at Chapman Stadium on Saturday. Here's some instant analysis from TU's perspective, stay tuned for full game coverage from both sides.
Positive takeaways:
The Golden Hurricane won't have to play Oklahoma again this season – that's about it. TU was outplayed in every facet and the game was over less than a minute in. And it's okay; OU is really, really good. Tulsa will need to regroup this week and try to regain some of those positive vibes from that big win over Tulane.
Negative takeaways:
It's hard to criticize the Hurricane when they're playing against such a dominant force, but there are definitely things that coach Bill Blankenship will focus on. TU lost the turnover battle 4-0 and missed plenty of tackles. Better decision making and improved tackling will be keys moving forward.
What it means:
Just one loss, and an expected one. This doesn't change anything regarding Tulsa's goals of competing in the American Athletic Conference or reaching a bowl game.
Tulsa MVP:
Keevan Lucas will take this honor for the second straight week. After grabbing 13 balls last week, Lucas snagged 10 more against the Sooners. He racked up 84 yards and the Golden Hurricane's only touchdown of the day.
What's next:
Tulsa is back at it next Saturday at Florida Atlantic. It's been a rough start to the 2014 season for the Owls, who have lost to Nebraska and Alabama by a combined 96-7.
