A 30-year-old Fort Gibson man is dead after a Friday evening crash in Cherokee County. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers investigated the fatality wreck.

Jonathon Seward was driving southbound on State Highway 80 near Canyon Road just after 5 p.m. when his Ford pickup left the road on a curve, according to OHP. The truck hit an embankment and a utility pole.

Seward was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he smelled of alcohol and that the cause of the crash was "unsafe speed on a curve."

He was not wearing a seat belt.
