The 2012 Vice Presidential Nominee made a stop in Tulsa. Paul Ryan was in town to sign copies of his new book - The Way Forward – which he said is a critique of the Republican Party.

Ryan said it isn't enough for conservatives to disagree with the president or criticize current policies, he said he is taking it a step further by coming up with a plan to get conservatives back in the White House.

Ryan was selective when deciding where to promote his new book and said the nine-day national book tour wouldn't have been complete without a stop in Oklahoma.

"Well I love Oklahoma for starters. I married an Okie, our dog's names are Boomer and Sooner and I'll be here for deer season. I just love this state and people are so generous to us,” Ryan said.

Dozens showed up at Barnes and Noble in Tulsa - including George Kaiser and former member of the House of Representatives, Wes Watkins – as the 44-year-old Republican autographed books and even posed for pictures.

In the past, Ryan has criticized members of his party for complaining about the government.

"I don't believe the government, the country is on the right track, and as an elected leader, I feel like I have an obligation and a responsibility to say how we should do things differently. I think the president is taking the wrong direction. I think they are using the wrong government philosophy,” Ryan said.

He said he has a plan to restore the American dream. He details how conservatives should look to restore the country.

He said the book isn't about his rumored 2016 presidential bid.

"Try and unify the conservative movement and the Republican Party so that it's principled, so that's is inclusive, so that it's aspirational so that we can win national elections,” he said.

Ryan stopped short of saying he is running for president in 2016, but when asked he said his family is going to think about what's best for them and make a decision next year,
