A man was wounded in a drive-by shooting on Highway 169 early Saturday. Tulsa police say the shooting took place at about 2:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway near 11th Street.
Corporal R.W. Solomon said the occupants of a car heard a "popping" sound, then the rear driver's side window shattered. The male driver was hit by a bullet in the left shoulder.
Police didn't have a suspect description but said someone in a white car going the same direction fired the shots.
The victims told police they had just gotten on the highway and hadn't had an altercation with anyone. They said they had no idea why they would be targeted for a drive-by shooting, according to Solomon.
The male driver was taken to the hospital where he was said to be stable.
The 11th Street on ramp and the two outside lanes of the highway were closed for a short time during the investigation. Police found some shell casings on the highway.
