Tulsa Public Schools says the Tulsa city council will honor a special school crossing guard at their meeting Thursday.
On Wednesday, News On 6 caught up with Lou Ellen Solomon on her first day back at work this school year at Disney Elementary School.
Solomon says she's been a crossing guard for about 34 years. She says she loves talking with both the kids and parents, many of whom give her lots of positive comments which keeps her coming back year after year.
"They all say 'you're good, you're good'. And I'm so glad they think so. I get slower all the time and that bothers me," said Lou Ellen Solomon.
Solomon started in the school's cafeteria before moving to outdoors to be a crossing guard. She says she'll keep working as long as she's able.
