A hot air balloon missed its landing spot and landed a neighborhood instead. Broken Arrow resident Elizabeth Franklin said the balloon set down at about 9 a.m. in the Eagle Creek addition. That's at the corner of South 200th East Avenue and East 47th Street South.

Martin Philpott of Auspicious Balloon Flights said they took off at 71st Street in Broken Arrow and planned to land at a school but didn't quite make it.

"The school property was locked up and the winds were less than half a mile an hour," he said.

The pilot said it was abnormal in Oklahoma to have such slight winds this time of the day and safe to land in a neighborhood where the utilities are all underground.

Homeowners and children seemed thrilled by the event as crews deflated the colorful balloon. The couple who were celebrating their anniversary with a hot air balloon ride said it was an amazing experience.
