The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Tulsa County through Wednesday evening and a Heat Advisory for much of eastern Oklahoma and southeast Kansas until Tuesday evening.
News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says temperatures will climb in the upper 90s Tuesday and Wednesday and combined with high humidity, heat index values could reach 105 to 110 degrees.
The heat advisory includes Chautauqua and Montgomery counties in southeast Kansas and Craig, Creek, Mayes, Nowata, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Rogers, Wagoner and Washington counties in Oklahoma.
Crone says a cold front will approach the area Wednesday bringing with it a slight chance for showers and a few thunderstorms and high temperatures in the lower 90s by Thursday.
EMSA says the high temperatures and humidity can be fatal unless we take precautions.
