The Tulsa Police Department made at two arrests during a DUI checkpoint late Friday and early Saturday in the 5800 block of South Memorial.

Traffic Safety Officer Craig Murray says the checkpoint was part of the department’s “Safer Summer in Tulsa” campaign.

He says police officers stopped every fifth vehicle looking for DUI drivers and other violations.

Murray said officers wrote 97 tickets, served two felony warrants, eight misdemeanor warrants, made one arrest for DUI and another arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia.

The checkpoint was funded by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office and paid the overtime hours of the officers involved.

Murray says the campaign is part of a statewide effort to save lives on the state’s roadways.
