Backpacks filled with school supplies for the upcoming year will be given to 400 students for free. Verizon employees are donating the backpacks to the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Employees at Tulsa’s Verizon finance center stuffed the backpacks Thursday morning with supplies to make sure each student has a successful school year.

"It's really an honor for us to be able to distribute these backpacks to these kids because their mom or their dad has done a lot for this country and some have paid the ultimate sacrifice," said Dave Dierinzo with the Folds of Honor Foundation.

Folds of Honor said scholarships help the families they serve, but this is a great way to help with practical expenses like supplies.
