Monday Morning Update

Good morning!

We're tracking a few showers and storms this morning across portions of northern OK but the main focus of the forecast is a strong cold front moving across the area later today. This boundary will bring cooler air to the state for the middle of the week. A series of upper level disturbances may also bring higher rain chances back to portions of the area Wednesday and Thursday.

The first front moved across the area yesterday afternoon before stalling along the highway 412 corridor Sunday afternoon. A few showers and storms were located along this boundary yesterday evening and a few have been persisting this morning near the area. These should eventually drop off the radar scope during the next two to three hours.

Later this afternoon the strong cold front will arrive across northern OK bringing gusty north winds and much cooler air. Some showers and storms will be possible with the boundary, but the higher chances may reside across southern OK and north TX this evening with a deeper pool of low level moisture. We'll keep a chance of showers and storms in the forecast for this afternoon and evening across northern OK with higher chances tonight across southern OK. A few strong storms would be possible.

Tuesday will more than likely be dry for most of northern OK with morning lows in the 60s with highs around 80! North winds in the 10 mph range will be likely.

Wednesday another storm complex is likely to develop and move across western OK Wednesday afternoon or evening. This will be close enough to keep a decent chance for a few showers and storms in our forecast. The higher chances for eastern and southeastern OK should arrive Wednesday late into the first half of Thursday. Pockets of moderate to heavy rainfall will be possible across southern OK and north TX with the chances remain around 70% for Tulsa metro. Multi-inch rainfall is possible.

Temperatures both Wednesday and Thursday should start in the lower 60s and may top out in the mid-70s. Thursday has a chance for some locations south of Tulsa to remain the upper 60s for most of the day with rain and clouds remaining the dominate feature.

The data supports slightly warmer air Friday. We'll begin seeing the upper 80s and lower 90s arriving back into the weekend. There will be a slight chance for a few showers or storms arriving Saturday night into Sunday morning, and then possibly Sunday pm into Monday morning.

The official high in Tulsa yesterday was 101 recorded at 4:23pm.

The normal daily average high is 93 and the low is 73.

Our daily records include a high of 112 from 1954. The daily record low is 54 from 1954, 1967, and 1926.
