Dive Team Sent Home After Searching For Body In LeFlore County Lake

The search for a body in a LeFlore County lake ended after officials said the target areas were searched, but no body was found.

The search for a body in a LeFlore County lake ended Thursday evening after officials said the target areas were searched, but no body was found.

According to KFSM, Captain George Brown with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, said he received a call for assistance from the office of district attorney Jeff Smith concerning a possible homicide victim, so, a dive from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was dispatched to assist in the search for a body.

Authorities searched target areas at Lake Wister for the body, according to Smith.

Officials said they body of the missing 17-year-old female was not located and the LeFlore County DA's Task Force will be investigating further.

Officials from the Wister Police Department and the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office both confirmed they were not assisting and had not been contacted about the search.

Smith said members of the local Violent Crime Task Force were also involved in the investigation. He confirmed officials spent most of the morning searching for the body, but no more details about the possible homicide victim have been released at this time.
