More than 35,000 radio amateurs gathered this weekend with ham radio clubs across the United States.
In Tulsa, the National Association for Amateur Radio hosted a field day event and picnic for people to practice their skills in case of emergencies.
Amateur Radio folks, also called "hams," are known for their communication support in disaster situations.
Most don't realize ham radios are also used in a lot of events like marathons -- parades and malls.
News On 6 photojournalist Chris McNamara was at the event today and you can watch his video by clicking above or going to the "videos" section if you are using one of our free apps.
