The 9 year olds for the Oklahoma Black Sox have had a fun summer playing baseball. They've played together for almost 5 years and won a lot.
The kids sound like they've got this baseball thing down pat.
"Working together, cheering each other on, if I miss just say I'll get it next time," Cooper Monroe said.
Connor Kirby added, "The key to success is hitting, fielding and pitching. We've had really good pitchers and really glad we have a chance to win again and play a lot of games."
They've won against all comers, so much so, after a 7-0 record at a Kansas City tournament, this team that usually stops playing at the end of June will have more play baseball, in California.
Coach Michael Roller: "It wasn't a situation where I had to go convince them, there was a little bit of convincing for them to convince me. And then I had to convince them and then we all had to convince each other."
Roller and his team are headed to California on July 15 for an elite 9-and-under baseball tournament, featuring 32 of the top teams in the nation.
"It's just a great opportunity to go out there and test yourselves," Roller said. "As long as they go out there and compete hard and play hard, I'm hoping they have a great experience."
For now, they'll continue to practice later than most summers. But their objective remains the same.
"I expect to go to California and win," Kirby said.
