The St. Louis Cardinals summoned former Owasso High School shortstop Pete Kozma from Class AAA Memphis on Monday.
The announcement came the same day the St. Louis Cardinals placed injured pitchers Michael Wacha and Jamie Garica on the disabled list with shoulder troubles.
Kozma joins right-hander Eric Fornataro who was also called up from Memphis.
Kozma, 26, began the season on the Cardinals roster but appeared in just four games before being optioned to Memphis on April 14, 2014. He hit .234 with four homers and 24 RBIs in 59 AAA games.
Fornataro, who is also 26, was 1-2 with a 3.27 ERA and four saves in 19 games for Memphis. Both are expected to be in uniform for the Cardinals' game Monday night against the Colorado Rockies.
