Tulsa police say a man ambushed Taco Bueno workers in the business parking lot as they arrived at work Sunday morning.
Corporal Mark Shelton, TPD, said the man lay in wait at a nearby construction site until employees arrived at about 5:45 a.m. in the 4600 block of South Peoria.
"He knew exactly when the store was about to open," Shelton said. "Some thought went into this."
The workers told the robber they had no money. One of them struggled with the man, and two shots were fired - one flattening the tire of a worker's El Camino.
The employees weren't hurt, Shelton said, other than "the emotional trauma of having somebody point a gun at you, attempt to rob you.
"Other than that, they're going to have business as usual today."
Employees told police the man was wearing a dark colored hoodie, dark jeans and shoes and his face was mostly covered with some kind of mask. He was using a black pistol in the attempted robbery.
Shelton said police don't have a lot to go on other than a few phrases the robber said to the workers he tried to rob.
