Officials say a woman may have set her kitchen on fire on purpose. The house fire happened overnight in a neighborhood near Admiral and Harvard.
The fire started just before 2 a.m. in the 100 block of North Marion. A woman, daughter and son-in-law got out safely, but investigators believe the mother set the fire.
Firefighters say they arrested Sheryl Crockett after they believe she intentionally set an upholstered chair in her kitchen on fire.
They had to go through a few steps to figure out what happened.
"Anytime we can't determine what the cause was, we call in the investigators, and it's their job to determine what it was," said spokesperson Stan May, TFD.
"If it was accidental or if it was arson."
Firefighters on scene say the fire was mostly contained to the kitchen, and they put it out quickly.
The 51-year-old Crockett was booked on a complaint of first degree arson. She is being held on a $20,000 bond.
We know that the Red Cross was on scene, helping the family.
