Muskogee police arrested a man for shooting with intent to kill after, they say, he fired shots at another man after fighting over a woman.
Police say they responded to a call at 11:20 a.m. June 1st of a verbal dispute at a Muskogee apartment complex. When they arrived, police say Benrick Carter, 19, and Lakeith Russell, 27, were arguing over a woman, who was also present. Officers spoke with all three in the apartment and left after determining no crime had taken place.
About 20 minutes later, police responded to a shots fired call near North 26th Street and Dension Street. When they arrived they found Russell, who claimed after his earlier argument, Carter followed in his vehicle and shot at him several times.
Police say neither Russell, nor his vehicle was shot.
Officers say they spoke with other witnesses who said they heard gunshots, but none provided written statements.
Police say they later found Carter and arrested him on one count of shooting with intent to kill.
